Day 1

So, we didn’t get our Kickstarter.

What, you expected us to give up? Not even close. This Kickstarter pushed us beyond our comfort zones, our expectations, and our living rooms. It got us out into the streets, into office buildings, into meetings and partnerships, and into the eyes and minds of influential people we had no idea of before.

The Kickstarter worked, you see.

It kicked us straightway into high gear, and we’ve been flying since. This isn’t a crash and burn, or a halt, or even a slowing down. It’s the beginning. So today is Day 1. What’s next for REM? Are we still filming in July? Where are we going to get our funding? Are you guys crazy?

To answer that last one: probably. Besides that, though, we have hired a Developmental Director with a lot of connections to pull in investors and obtain the majority of our budget (which is different than the Kickstarter amount which was meant to just get us off the ground in our efforts.) We also have an investor that is matching all of the donations we received last night at the BBQ.

Our June is going to be one giant concerted effort. I will be meticulously planning our July production, while our Developmental Director will be teaming up with us to meet with investors. But, I think with our recent teaser trailer, we proved what we can do.

Here’s where we need your help, though.

The costs for production only go up from here. I’ve already poured out my last pennies into this project, covering costs for printing, design, marketing, events, the trailer, and several other logistics surrounding the film. Jeremy can say the same, and so many other crew members have contributed money, as well, not to mention their man hours. We need to start purchasing and renting equipment, printing hundreds and hundreds of pages of script and revisions and storyboards, and so many other things involved with pre-production.

What can you do? Back the film! If you were a backer of the Kickstarter, your card was never charged, and will not be. So, that amount that you pledged to help make it happen… Use it to help us do just that, make it happen! Click the button below to donate directly to the film’s account. Those funds go to getting equipment, supplies, and getting our actors here with everything they need to be successful. If you haven’t backed us yet, now’s the chance.

To thank you for your support, we’re going to be sending out some prizes to backers, anyways. You still get your name in the credits of the film, and I’ll be sending out some movie posters and invitations to the Denton screening to those who donate a little more.

Thanks to everyone for the support. You’ll be hearing from us soon!

– Gabriel
